Wiki Billing for medication starter packs

Good Morning,

Our practice has a facility in a rural area with no pharmacy near by. The clinic would like to give patients a "starter pack" of the medication they would be prescribed at a visit to get them started on the medication until they can make it to their pharmacy. How do we code/bill for this dispensing the medication; this is new to everyone involved. Any input would be appreciated.

If you do not have a pharmaceutical dispensing license you cannot charge to dispense medications. And you cannot charge for the meds.

And If these are the fee samples from the pharmaceutical reps then you can only give them out free of charge.
