I have a Medicare patient that came in to our outpt facility to be given oral
Sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim every hour to monitor for possible reaction.
She was given 5 hours of hydration along with the oral meds by one of our infusion nurses. Besides billing for the Hydration is there anyway to also charge for the admin of the oral drug by our nurse? This treatment took 5 hours of chair time and I hate to only bill for the hydration. We did provide the medication from our out pt pharmacy and will bill for it.

I appreciate any guidance that someone can give me.

theres no way to bill for PO meds. If u are a free standing facility you may could bill for a nurse level 1 in addition to your hydration. if you are out-pt then you can only bill the hydration services
