Can you bill for Nurse practitioner doing H&P prior to Cataract surgery on the same day that Dr. does his pre-op for cataract surgery? Both are in the Same medical Group

Typically you would not code both unless the NP visit would qualify for the modifier 25. If NP visit was at all related to pre op then absolutely do not code both.

Pre-operative services are inclusive to the surgery, so neither of these should be billed actually. A cataract surgery is a major procedure, so it includes E&M services on the day of or the day before the surgery, unless the decision for the procedure is being made at that time and a 57 modifier is supported by the documentation.
