Pt comes in clinic, says she has a piece of glass in her foot, Dr checks and can't find any glass; calls another Dr. into the exam room to check and to consult. 2nd Dr. checks for glass can't find and says no more probing because he doesn't want to cause tissue damage. Now after all that. Patient is charged for 1st Dr visit/procedure. 2nd Dr. does a his own documentation sends it to coder for billing. How would you bill this? You can't double charge the patient. Not sure how to code for billing. Any help. If I can answer any questions to help with answer please don't hesitate.

this should not have been put on the ER site...oops

My understanding is if the doctors are in a group practice with the same specialty you can only charge for the 1st dr visit and procedure. You can not charge the pt twice for the same thing being done at the same time by two doctors in the same room.
