Wiki billing under PA's NPI number in ER without a physician

Can a physician assistant bill for an ER visit under their own NPI number without a physician signing off on the records? This is not incident to. They are credentialed under Medicare and two other private insuances.

depends on who your billing to some insurance will pay for PA's to be ther own billing providers and others the Dr has to be listed as the billing provider and you have to have the modifier listed that this was a PA. It's best to call the patient's insurance to see if they pay
 
We have a PA joining our practice on Monday and I have never billed for a PA only a NP. What modifier do you use in the above circumstances? Thank you
