We get reimbersed from our "Medical Manager" for certain biopsies. eg: malig lesions, large benign lesions over 2cm, biopsies done on the face wether or not malig if it is billed as a 11100 or 11101. etc. So my question is if a doctor does a "shave biopsy" on the face can this be billed as a 11100,11101 so he can get reimbersed for this or since it is a "shave" does it have to be billed as such 11310-11313? Otherwise these lesions will just get capitated off. Thanks

If he has size then you would use the shave codes per size. Otherwise a lot of providers will say shave biopsy when they mean standard biopsy and just not put any size information.
