My brain is NOT working this morning, please help.

Doc does bx of pancreas, path immediately comes back & its malignant. Then the doc does a total pancreatectomy.

Do you code both bx and pancreatectomy? 48155, 48100-51

or I'm thinking just the pancreatectomy? 48155

I admit I'm out of my realm here but why not code both? I don't see any edits between the two. If you did the biopsy and it was benign, you'd bill and you wouldn't have done the pancreatectomy unless you'd done the biopsy, so why not bill for it?
