Wiki biopsy results

I am new to my practice and was asked to look at and help code a Transbronchial biopsy.. The ICD-9 code is for a mass only - this is the pre procedure diagnosis. My question is when there is a biopsy performed don't I have to wait for the path results to finish coding the diagnosis?

no you are only required to wait for the path when it is a skin lesion excision.

thanks -- we are getting a very low reimbursement on our biopsy charges and thought maybe it was due to not submitting the path diagnosis. Any thoughts?
