Our primary care office recently hired a Phlebotomist to do blood draws. My question is, if a patient comes in say on Monday for a regular visit and the providers orders fasting blood work, the patient comes in the next day to complete the fasting blood work, would that count as part of MDM for that Monday visit? I know the the ordering of each unique test counts towards MDM, so I am already thinking the answer is no, but my office manager was asking me about it.
Thanks!

If you are billing for the labs , they cannot be counted in the MDM grid. However, if you are sending them off and just getting paid for venipuncture, yes you can count them as a unique test ordered on the day of the visit.
