I would like to know when i code obiesty there is a note to code also the BMI I know that to get the information it would be in the growth chart how do I do the math to achive the number asked for in the codes (V85.5-V85.54)?
I remember doing this at one time.

I don't have my ICD-9 with me but I thought the calculation was actually indicated at the beginning of the V85 codes. The adult calculation is kg divided by meters squared -- but I'm terrible at math. I use the below websites to calculate BMI when indicated.

You can go to the CDC website and get that info- also your local DOH may have a tool , it is a wheel graph that gives you the percentile- good luck!
