I am confused about the Pediatric BMI codes and am wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. The ICD-9 book lists the BMI, pediatric codes V85.51-V85.54 with a notation that it is for use for persons age 2-20. However the age edit symbol P is located next to these codes indicating it is for use for patients age 0-17. Which guideline should be used to code the BMI for a 19 year old pediatric patient?
