Hello-I'm hoping someone can give me some good info on these codes. My ortho docs are wanting to bill cpt code 77073 with either knee or hip xrays-per NCCI the code bundle and I don't see a way around billing them together. Is there any hard evidence that says you can't bill these codes together? Thanks in advance!

append modifier 59

Hi,

You must append modifier 59 to the x-ray code.

For eg: If the physician does Bone Lenght Studies (77073) along with radiologic examination of the the right hip 4 views (73503). You should code it like this:

77073
73503-59, RT
