How would you code for breast cancer prevention/screening consultation visit? The patient is being seen for the first time by the oncology group because the positive deletious mutation of BRCA-2 gene with a family history of breast and ovarian cancer. Patient opted against bilateral mastectomies. She is currently taking tamoxifen. This patient has not be diagnosised with breast cancer.
I can't lead with the gene mutation, or that she is on tamoxifen or the family history. Has anybody seen V76.10 unspecified breast screening get paid? It looks like it can be the principal Dx in the office setting per Encoderpro, but not in the inpatient setting.
The patient does have osteoarthritis and vitamin D deficiency, but that's not the reason for the visit.
