can i get some opinions please??? The issue in my department is this: if we have a breast report that says cancer at 12, 3, 6, or 9 oclock, we are divided as how to code these...the coders (the ones actually doing the coding) all agree this should be a C50.8 code.... Supervisor disagrees and says it should NEVER be a C50.8 unless report says "overlapping".. our reasoning is that if it is on the midline (12,3,6,9) then it must be overlapping since it is in middle of two quadrants......help!! some clarificationw would be great!!!

I agree with using overlapping for 3:00, 6:00, 9:00, 12:00 o’clock as noted in SEER guidelines. My pathologists agree with using these SEER guidelines.
