Hello,

Billing for mri procedure 77059 , dx v84.01, insuance company is denying. Has anyone had this code pay for this type of testing? Not sure if patient has a fm hx looking into. Any information is greatly appreciated.

MRI Breast

If the patient is having an MRI for carrier of BRCA1, I would look further into previous exam. I would bet you find that the patient has had an abnormal findings.Density,Calcifications and so forth. These are good dx's to code with the MRI.
 
you cannot use information from a previous encounter to code this study. You can use family history and screening V codes plus the V84.01 as long as the documentation supports this.
