I am currenty working as a surgery scheduler with a breast reconstruction surgeon. I have a question about reductions, code 19318, in the code book it is simply stated as Breast reduction. But I was wondering if this included liposuction of the breast to break up the dissue prior to the construction of the smaller breast.
I'm asking this because I stumbled upon an article in the Decmeber 2013 AAPC magazine which stated a DIEP should be coded as the 19364 and inclueded the harvesting, microvascualr transfer and closer of doner site, but when you look up the coode it is simply stated as "breast reconstuction with free flap."
Is coding 19318 and 15877 (liposuction of trunk) redundant? Or are they two seperate procedures?
