Hello, I'm seeking clarification on OBGYN coding for maternal services. Specifically, if a provider reports a bundle code CPT 59400, which procedure does this represent in terms of the postpartum care. Is it for postpartum care provided after delivery during inpatient stay or for the 6wks postpartum care?
I'd appreciate insights into bundled codes and how they're reported in claims, as well as tips for reviewing charts. Thank you!
 
Global maternity billing 59400 includes all of the antepartum care, admission to the hospital for delivery, labor management, including induction of labor, fetal monitoring, use of low forceps and episiotomy, vaginal delivery of the fetus and placenta, and inpatient and outpatient postpartum care.
