The American College of Radiology (ACR) has learned the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) will delete several disputed NCCI coding edits.
The ACR appealed the edits implemented on Jan. 1, 2016. The College has now received word from NCCI that they will delete the following NCCI edits in the July 1, 2016 quarterly update:
• Renal biopsy (50200) performed in conjunction with fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance or ultrasound guidance (77002, 77012, 77021, 76942)
• Renal aspiration (50390) performed in conjunction with fluoroscopy, computed tomography, magnetic resonance or ultrasound guidance (77002, 77012, 77021, 76942)
• Percutaneous nephrostolithotomy or pyelostolithotomy, with or without dilation, endoscopy, lithotripsy, stenting, or basket extraction; (50080, 50081) performed in conjunction with fluoroscopy (76000, 76001)
These deletions will be effective retroactively to the original implementation date of Jan. 1, 2016. Look for the ACR to post additional changes to the NCCI edits as they are made available on the Economics & Health Policy Related News web page
