If a provider does not allow separate payment for an EKG, as they consider it bundled to the E/M, are 2 points given for the independent visualization (documentation supported) and 1 pt given for the ordering of the EKG? Therefore, giving 3 data points for a diagnostic test that they consider to be bundled and not separately payable. My understanding is that 1 pt for ordering would be double dipping on the 2pts for the reading. I've been told that I'm wrong. I'm looking for authoritative sources to reference. I want to be sure I'm scoring these services correctly.
