What is the secret when having more than one procedure to know if both procedures can be billed. How do you know if one is included with the other or if you can use a modifier and get both billed? Please help! I work in a General Surgery office.

You need to be familiar with CCI edits. These change every quarter and they will tell you whether two procedures are component of comprehensive or mutually exclusive and if it can be modified. You can access this online for free or you can subscribe to a service to have access. I like code correct and others like encoder pro. And I think there are other services that work. You need to do some research and decide how you are going to access this information.
