I'm new to coding for Rheumatology, I have a physician who injected 20 mg depomedrol with 1ml 2% lidocaine in the left pes anserine bursa, he coded this as 20605. I felt that it should have been coded as 20610 since the pes anerine bursa is part of the knee joint. I would appreciate any opinions as to how this procedure should have been coded. Thanks for your input.

You are correct 20610 is for injections in the bursae of large joints such as the knee and shoulder, while 20605 is for the injections in the bursae of intermediate joints such as the elbow.
