my question is regarding EEG monitoring 95951 when the provider owns the equipment. what i read tells me if the provider owns their own equipment they cannot bill for the technical component in the office. A provider is billing a technical and professional component on different days, stating he did the interp on a separate day. We do not have reimbursement for anything but professional on code 95951. Is there truly a technical component when done in the doctor's office for this code?

The way i understand it is if you bill 95951 alone it means you are billing for both the pc and tc.....if you were only billing for the pc you would add modifier 26 or only the machine you would bill with tc. Since you own the machine and are doing the reading as well you just bill the appropriate cpt code alone. Hope this helps:)
