Can some cardiac surgery guru out there answer a simple question that I am just brain dead on?! :-)

Is bypass included within the CABG procedure or seperately coded? (eg 33960)

Also, FYI--the 33960 is throwing me as it references "cardiopulmonary insufficiency"--a condition--vs us lacing pt on bypas for a procedure!)

Cardiopulmonary bypass is inclusive with the CPT cardiac bypass procedure codes. The physician does not code this separately. The facility does with the ICD-9 codes. As this is never an outpatient procedure.
