I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the differences in production quotas and pay between abstracting and computer-assisted coding. I have done both. Currently in a position that was initially much closer to computer-assisted coding (verification and editing of provider-entered CPT/ICD10) with a production quota of 200/day, versus previous position as a true abstractor with a quota of 50/day. Current position is dramatically changing expectations more in line with abstracting, with no change to production quotas. Is this just the way forward, or are others having similar findings and successfully renegotiating production/pay/etc.?
