Wiki can 90804 and 90862 be billed together

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if procedure code 90804 (Individual Psychotherapy) can be billed with procedure 90862 (Pharmacologic Management)?

According to TrailBlazer ( Psychiatric Services, page 39) 90862 code should not be reported on the same day as codes 90801, 90804-90829, 90845, 90849 or 90853 by the same provider.

Hello Brandi, If your MD's are performing both therapy and medication management, you may use 90805-7-9 to reflect that.

I think this has already been addressed, but the correct code, for a prescribing clinician to use when Med Mgmt and psychotherapy are performed is 90805 (20-30 min f2f with E&M), 90807 (45-50 min f2f w/E&M), or 90809 (75-80 min f2f w/E&M). Note that 90809, however, needs to support exceptional circumstances as well as medical necessity in the documentation.
