Wiki Can a pain managemetn dr bill for drug/alcohol screening?

The dr that I bill for is a pain management dr. She feels that she should be able to bill CPT 99408 for commercial ins or G0396 for Medicare. I understand her point of view and believe that there should be a CPT code for Dr's of her specialty to bill as they do have to screen for drug or alcohol abuse. Does anyone know where I can find documentation on this? Thanks!

We are pain management as well. Thus far, we're only receiving payment for 99408 from United Healthcare & G0396 from traditional Medicare. Are you having any success getting other insurance companies to pay? Any help would be much appreciated! Feel free to e-mail me directly.
