Wiki can an office visit be billed w/a hysteroscopy that is done in the office?

Our office just started doing hysteroscopies in the office. Can an E&M w/mod 25 be billed in addittion to the Hysteroscopy code?

The only way you can bill an E/M code with a hysteroscopy (any in office procedure) is if the patient came in for an evaluation and the physician decided from the information pertained at that E/M to proceed with a hysterosocpy. The E/M has to be a significant, seperatley identifiable service. The E/M may be prompted by a symptom or conidition and after eval the physician decided to proceed with a hysteroscopy.

I would agree with the above reply, but simply add that you need to append modifier 25 to the E/M if it was "significant, separately identifiable...."
