One of our providers has asked if she is able to take a patient back in to fix a c-section wound that was not well approximated. She is the original surgeon, but before she could finish closing, she had another baby to deliver and the surgeon assist said that he would finish up. He did not do a very good job closing the wound. The skin overlaps. She wants to know if she can take the patient back into the OR and reopen the wound, possibly remove the overlapped skin and close it properly. The patient delivered 12/28/09 and if she goes back in, it will not be for another 2 weeks. She wants to see if it will resolve itself. I would really appreciate your advice in this situation.
