Needing some help, our techs did a nuclear study, but were not able to finish testing due to patient having "an event" and needing to be sent to emergency room. They were not able to do the final imaging on the nuclear stress. Is there a portion of this test that we can bill for appropriately?

Also, we had another patient that had the tracer injection but wasnt able to have the scan done due to being claustrophobic, are we able to bill for the tracer only?

Thank you for your help.

Since the procedure was discontinued because of the condition of the patient, you'd add the -53 modifier. As long as the test was initially begun, and the procedure wasn't electively discontinued, you can report this for partial payment.
