Hi, my doc spent >12 hours on labor and delivery, but we are billing a global ob code for delivery/postpartum care. Can we put the 22 modifier on there and charge for the extra time spent?? Can you do this for ANY global code??
Thanks in advance for any help given!

Global ob for delivery/postpartum care can be billed with a 22 modifier, however documentation must support the increased services (3rd or 4th degree lacerations, complications, etc.). I don't think 22 modifier can be added just for a long uncomplicated labor without a documented reason or complication. I would also suggest submitting the claim with the reports as verification of the increased services. Hope this helps.
