we bill the following codes: 0296t/0298t, 93228, 93270/93272 depending on the device placed on the patient as per the monitor company. the 0296t and 93270 are hook ups for different devices so those can be billed on the date they are put on, but what about the interp codes 0298t/93272/93228 codes? do i bill those the date they are read or the date they are put on? also, is there no hook up code for 93228? my issue is we are putting these on during an office visit and i'm having to hold those claims until the reports are all read so i know what to bill since event monitors and mct are interchangeable.

Interp codes should be billed out on the date of read. As far as CPT 93228, we use CPT 93229 for the hookup or the technical component I should say. Our charges drop automatically when the results are read so we don't ever have to hold them.
