Hi. I am new to coding cardiology and E&M. Can I bill 99283 for my cardiologist if he saw a patient in the ED? Will this be paid as well as the ED doc being paid? Thanks for your help.

You can bill 99283 for a consultation in the ED department if the patient did not get admitted to another part of the facility, in other words observation or inpatient..... if they stayed in the ED before going home bill the ER codes, if they were then admitted bill a consult or admit code, whatever your doc did.
