The doctor indicated that he is checking for "patency for carotid and vertebral circulation to evaluate atherosclerotic burden" and ordered a carotid ultrasound.
Biller billed Z13.6 Encounter for screening cardiovascular disorder (unacceptable pdx).
Patient has symptoms of dizziness,peripheral arterial disease and hypercholesterolemia. Results show 20-30% non obstructive plaque, involving bilateral carotid bulbs and proximal internal carotid segments.
QUESTION:
Can we rebill with the ff codes?
I73.9, R42, I65.23?(even if it is a non obstructive plaque?)
