Does anyone know how to get paid for casting codes. I have been trying for the past few months to get a claim paid where the physician applied a short arm cast and billed a closed treatment of the fracture. A week later the patient came back in for recheck and they physician stated in notes that her cast was univalved and then overwrapped with an ace bandage. The ace bandage is what I am having trouble getting paid. This is a medicare claim. I first billed with A4465 and it was denied. I resubmitted the claim with code A6449 and it was still denied.
We always have problems getting these claims paid and our posting person always just ends up writing it off.
Are these codes not payable/covered by Medicare? Any suggestions anyone will be helpful.
