Hi,

I am coding a cataract extraction with subconjunctival injection. I have 66984 for the cataract but not sure if I can also code for the injection 68200 or would this be bundled into the procedure? I checked the CCI edits and it's listed with a "1" so I could add modifier 59 but I'm not sure this would be considered a seperate and distinct procedure?

Any thoughts...Thank you

I use the "expert" edition of the CPT book. At the beginning of the cataract codes it lists what is included in cataract extraction. This is the list in my book.

INCLUDED:
Anterior or posterior capsulotomy
Enzymatic zonulysis
Iridectomy/iridotomy
Lateral canthotomy
Medications
Operating Microscope(69990)
Subconjunctival injections
Subtenon injection
Use of viscoelastic material.
