I have an inpatient record that I need your help on. The pt had a bilateral mastectomy several years ago. She had reconstruction w/ bilateral breast implants. She had her implants replaced on 1/3/13. She now presents w/ cellulitis of the breast implant wound. Would you code 996.69 Infection and Inflammatory Reaction due to other Internal Prosthetic Device/Implant/Graft, 611.0 Inflammatory Disease of Breast, E878.1 Surgical Operation, Implant Artificial Internal Device, w/ Abnormal Reaction/Later Complication or would you use 996.69 and 682.2 Cellulitis and Abscess of Trunk and E878.1. Or how would you code this. I didn't think you would use the Breast Dx due to fact Breast had been previously removed and you are dealing with an implant.??? Thanks for your input.
