Good Morning,

We are entertaining the idea of having the physicians document and care for the patients and employ coders to do what they do best(Novel concept huh?).

This seems simple, but I am trying to figure out how this would work with our EHR as the diagnosis are linked with the code. There are many times when a more speicific code could have been used as well as the software does not give alot of detail on the code and many time it can be incorrect. With ICD-10 implementation our providers are going to have to concentrate on improving documentation.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Thank you!!! :)

Hi Kim,

My practice also uses Centricity. I'm currently reviewing our coding workflow to try to come up with something better than just manually reviewing and changing the codes for charge entry after the notes are completed. I'm curious as to what you wound up doing in your practice, if you wouldn't mind sharing. It's definitely not a coder-friendly system! Have you come up with anything that has worked well for both you and the providers?
