Job Summary:

Utilizes clinical and coding expertise to abstract, analyze, evaluate, and identify retrospective documentation. Accurately identifies and applies clinical reasoning to support diagnoses which reflect patient characteristics, diseases, and treatments.

Requirements:
Certified coder with an additional advanced coding credential from AHIMA or AAPC required, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, with additional coding or healthcare related credential preferred
5+ years inpatient / outpatient , and/or physician multi-specialty coding experience applying ICD-9-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines
Associate degree or equivalent related experience required, bachelor?s degree preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and billing rules preferred
Written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Internet and email

Working Conditions:
Typical office setting
Ability to talk, express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others
Ability to sit and work at a computer for an extended period using repetitive motion
Ability to have close visual acuity to prepare complex data and figures, view a computer screen, or complete extensive reading and research.
Ability to occasionally travel
Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work regular hours with predictable attendance on the job
