Does anyone know if there is a timeframe for ChampVA to request a refund?
ChampVA sent my office a refund request letter (dated 2/20/19) for claims from 10/2011 to 9/2012, stating the pt was divorced in 2006 and was not eligible for benefits under his spouse' coverage.
I have not been able to find out how far back a government insurance carrier (VA, ChampVA, Tricare, etc) can request a refund due to a non fraudulent overpayment, except for Medicare, which is 6 years from the date paid.
I was told by ChampVA that they do not have a timeframe and the billing company I work for does not agree with this.
If anyone can provide any help I will be greatly appreciated.
