These ultrasounds are for Dx. or symptoms with discovery associated with renal (N28.89 N18.9 etc) or nodes in lungs or chest area (dx R91 or R07) or Aorta ( possible dx I77 or I71). You can always use dx Z01.89 if not known main cause for ultrasound. However provider is to give you a reason or medical necessity for ordering. Also sometimes the ultrasound is done again after so many years or months then put a modifier on one of these ultrasound. The modifiers are PI or PS. The PI-initial ultrasound first time or modifier PS sequence again. Check with your payers if use modifiers. And put referring doc names who ordered ultrasounds on CMS 1500 claim's blank.
