Hi ,

I Got one Hallux limitus correction case, Im not sure about cpt. can we use 28289 here? however the description for 28289 says hallux rigidus correction.
Copy of report is given below. please advise .....

POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: HALLUS LIMITUS WITH SYNOVITIS WITH OSTEOCHONDRAL LESIONS CENTRAL FIRST METATARSAL HEAD, LEFT FOOT.

OPERATION: CHEILECTOMY AND SYNOVECTOMY WITH DEBRIDEMENT OF OSTEOCHONDRAL LESIONS FIRST METATARSAL HEAD, LEFT.

TECHNIQUE: The incision was carried down to the capsule and periosteal structures and this tissue was incised just medial to the extensor hallucis longus tendon. The tissues were freed medially and laterally, ossicles within the joint were removed in toto. The head of the 1st metatarsal was then freed from its surrounding soft tissue structures and osteotome and mallet was used to resect the bone both medial and lateral and dorsal. This was area was then ronguered and rasped to its normal contour. A ronguer was then used to resect the periarticular bone at the base of the proximal phalanx. The hypertrophic synovium and thickened capsule were then dissected. The synovectomy was performed with an 11-blade. The wound was then flushed with copious amounts of sterile saline

thanks in advance for your cooperation .
