Need help coding the premeds for chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting. What code do I use for the premeds that are ordered prophylatically? They are not experiencing any vomiting or nausea when they arrive for their treatment, but the doctor orders the premeds prophylatically. Please advise since we cant get a straight answer from anyone.

I would code V07.8 for prophylactic measures and if it is a Medicare patient I would use V07.39 as they do not recognize the V07.8.

Yes you bill the V58.11 or V58.12, as this is the reason for the meds.
