Hello everybody, good morning, I know Chiros cannot refer any diagnostic testing for any Medicare or Medi-cal patients, however I have been told that chiros also cannot refer mris with contrast for any type of insurance.... Is this information correct? or incorrect? And the next questions can Chiropractors order any MRIs CTs for private insurance or cash patients? Please help!

In NY chiros can order MRIs or CTs w or w/o contrast for workers comp or no-fault claims so long as the body part is not outside the scope of practice. For example a chiro can order a c-spine MRI but not a knee MRI. I would suggest you check with your local state's chiro board or insurance department for clarification.

In Alaska

You can order that and even a knee MRI. Chiropractors are not just the spine. They manipulate joints etc here. It really depends on your state laws and what their license allows them to do.
