So a patient returns for followup of pain management; specifically lumbar radiculopathy. The patient is taking cyclobenzaprine and also tramadol prn. Each visit of course is a UDS to confirm compliance with the opioid agreement on file. How is this coded?
Would it be a z02.83? I mean the opioid is only PRN, so I don't think we would pick that up as long term use... idk.. thank you for your help!!!

Hi there, I agree that you would not use Z02.83. There are so many guidelines for urine drug screens, including how frequently they can be reported, that you really need to check the payer's policy. It could be that radiculopathy is covered.
