The EMR indicates that the diagnosis code chosen was 362.52 for the term "Classic Macular Degeneration"; however, I cannot find this term under degeneration, macula in the Index of Terms ICD-9-CM. Can anyone tell me if classic macular degeneration falls under 362.52 Exudative senile macular degeneration? Thanks.

Unless documentation specifically states wet or exudative I would use the 362.50 unspecified. i have never heard of "classic" either.
