If anyone can help me with this but isn't there a time frame that a physician needs to sign and close there patient encounters each day? I thought the time frame was 48 hours even though it should technically be right after they see the patient. Any help would be appreciated.

Our EMR is set to send an Inbasket message to the provider after an encounter is still open after 72 hours. There are no government regulations or payer guidelines that mandate a set timeframe. It is best to create a "Best Practices" policy for your practice and require providers to adhere to it.
