If a surgeon performed a revision of colostomy with resection of prolapsed colostomy, creation of a distal mucous fistula and a proximal end colostomy, would it not be appropriate to code 44144 and not 44143? Pt's dx was a significant swollen prolapsed colostomy.

Your immediate response is appreciated.
Thanks
Maxine
