Can anyone tell me if this code can be used at the onset of PT INR checks or do you have to wait until you have had a minimum of 8 INR measurements before you can bill this code.

Thanks for any clarification.

Yes, you have to have a minimum of 8 Inr to bill 99363. Our office bills the 99363 for the initial Management(Initial 90 days) and 99364 for Subsequent management, each 90 days, min. 3 Inr. We do not have much luck getting paid for these, very few get paid and they are usually be a Medicare Managed Care Plan or PFFS plan. Good luck!

Hi, our office is just beginning to bill for 99363/99364, we need clarification on DOS to use as most insurance companies have a 90 day timely filing (exluding MCR), can you share which date you use?

the date you use is the date of the encounter. I think you misunderstand the code.. this is not a hold and wait 90 days to bill, it is a visit that occurs 90 days after the initiation of treatment as long as you have a minimum of 8 PT/INR results between the date you started the therapy and the date of this encounter.(99363) and then 3 results in the 90 days between the 99363 and the 99364
