Hello! Physician did a lumbar pars defect injection. Making sure 64999 is still the code to use for this. Does anyone know?

A pars defect is a stress fracture. Is he injecting a cementing product? Or is he actually injecting a nerve or something else?

Okay, so how is he injecting a stress fracture? What exact anatomic structure is he injecting?

He just said he did a left L5 pars defect injection. He doesn't mention any "stress fracture", nerve or anything more specific.

Then I don't think you have enough information to code it.
A pars defect IS a stress fracture, just like a myocardial infarction IS a heart attack.
