EXPERIENCE:
*Collect all data concerning the bill from the patient's medical record, code from CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS coding books.
* Educate the Physician and office staff on specific coding and billing.
* Create a claim to be paid and check that the assigned codes meet all federal, legal and insurance regulations so service payments are obtained in a timely manner.
*Make sure all insurance forms are completed and signed, and that all necessary information is in the computer.
* Send claims electronically weekly and hard copy claims daily to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and third-party payers.
*Correct electronic submission denials. Call payers on denied claims or/and resubmit corrected claims for payment.
*Collect and record payments from patients and all payers, adjusts claims, interprets explanation of benefits, handle denied claims, process appeals, and bill patients,
* Check patients in and out of the office, prepare new patients charts, address patient concerns and complaints, update patients records, pull and file medical charts, print immunization records and call in prescriptions, schedule patient appointments, referrals, pre-authorizations and insurance verifications.
* Provide all secretarial service for the physician and administrator and employee scheduling. Handle all telephone calls from attorneys, third party payers or workers compensation adjusters.
*Call to update or correct any computer issues and to repair office equipment. Open, review, sort and direct incoming mail and correspondence and reports.
*Credit card transactions, office refunds, office deposits, fill out disability forms, NSF notifications, order medication, office stationary and office supplies.
*Compose medical narratives for the physician and submits them to the third-party payers or Attorneys and schedule depositions.
*Review and submit correspondence to Attorneys and third party payers. Make collection decision from patients and handle all managerial telephone calls.
* Copy patients' medical records and submit them to third party payers, Social Security Administration, private insurance companies or Attorneys.
*Create a lien and submits a medical bill attached to it to the third party payer to ensure direct payment.
* Handle coroners' hold cases and submit cases to the Coroner of St. James Parish. Update Physician contracts and credentials.
*Measure vital signs, x-ray patients (x-ray # X00111), EKG‘s, perform finger sticks for glucose testing hematocrits and urinalysis.
